Eight UFO sightings in the Black Country and Shropshire that remain a mystery

Flying fireballs, vanishing aircraft and huge lines in the sky – these are some of the mysterious U̳F̳O̳ sightings that have been witnessed in the skies of our region.
Members of the public have reported seeing strange and bizarre U̳F̳O̳ (unidentified flying objects) phenomena across the Black Country and Shropshire over the past decade.
Sightings have come from people being in their back gardens to those watching meteorites late at night and others at work on their JCB diggers.
BlackCountryLive and MyShropshire has rounded up a list of peculiar sightings that remain unsolved.

Wednesbury, Sandwell; June 6, 2017 at approximately 10.40pm
An eyewitness reported seeing a circular U̳F̳O̳ from their back garden at night, describing it as “flying fireball”.
They said it was flying “quite fast” at first but then slowed down and started to die out.
Then it “disappeared completely” which surprised the eyewitness, who said it was “too quick for a fire to go out”.
“Me and my mom was in the garden and she pointed it out first,” the eyewitness said.
“It seemed to be controlled. It also didn’t have a tail or leave any trace. It was silent.”

Wolverhampton; March 8, 2014 at approximately 12.34am
A person claiming to be a scientist was meteorite watching late at night when they saw a U̳F̳O̳ go shooting past, travelling at least 180 miles-per-hour.
The scientist said they worked out the speed using seven visual landmarks, adding the object moved “completely silent”.
It was described as being triangular in shape, with an “upper and lower dome” and its size was about 30 feet in length and 15 feet wide.
The eyewitness said: “I am a scientist and have an extensive knowledge of aircraft and I did not recognize it at all.
“It was a little spooky with how low and silent it was.
“I have checked aviation groups and weather balloon stations and nothing was lost in the winds over the past week.”

Tipton, Sandwell; July 2, 2014 at approximately 12.30pm
An eyewitness reported seeing an oval shaped U̳F̳O̳ flying over the skies of the Black Country at lunch time one day.
They described seeing a plane with a metallic silver craft flying directly above it, at about the same speed, at a height of 20 feet.
Both the plane and U̳F̳O̳ went through a cloud, remerged and then “disappeared” shortly afterwards.
Then, moments later, an “actual plane” was then spotted but this was believed to have been a different aircraft altogether, the eye witness said.
They said they saw a “plane like craft with (a) metallic silver craft flying directly above, at (the) same speed, (at) about 20ft above plane.
“(It) went through (a) cloud and dropped away from (the) ‘plane’ – but both disappeared shortly after becoming visible out of (the) cloud.
“Two minutes after, an actual plane is seen which other witnesses believe was not part of what was first seen,” said the eyewitness.
There were “no other crafts around and no sounds or clouds coming from the engines” of either craft, they added.
