Scientists Have Found Out How Many Extraterrestrial Civilizations Can Live Nearby With Us

Humans are not the only intelligent life in the universe and the lack of signals from other advanced civilizations is very bad news for humanity.

Scientists have calculated that several dozen planets may exist in the Milky Way galaxy, on which there is a development of civilization. However, these worlds are so far from each other that no one can contact the Earth.

This was reported on the official website of the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence project, which searches for extraterrestrial life.

As Tom Westby, a scientist at the University of Nottingham in England, said, he and his colleagues used a slightly modified Drake equation, which was proposed several decades ago. It suggests factors that may indicate the presence of intelligent life on the planet.

Together with colleague Christopher Conselis, Westby discovered that it would take at least five billion years for intelligent life to develop with the technology to transmit data in space. Therefore, you need to find out how many stars in the Milky Way are old enough.

It is also important to consider that signals can travel through space for a very long time. The moment they reach their destination, the civilization that launched them may no longer exist.

Some stars may lack basic elements, and therefore life on planets in their vicinity is impossible.

The Milky Way is about 200 billion years old, and therefore, as scientists suggest, dozens of worlds with advanced civilizations may exist in it.
