Lanzhou Stone: Is it proof that there is intelligent life on other planets?

A genuinely surprising object was discovered in June 2002 and it was a rare stone with a threaded metal bar embedded inside it. This mysterious object was found in China by Mr. Zhilin Wang, a collector from Lanzhou near the Marzong Mountain region on the borders of Gansu and Xijiang provinces.

Many scientists and collectors have paid close attention to the Lanzhou Stone, as it is believed to have come from another planet.

The descriptive appearance of Lanzhou Stone
The enigmatic stone is pear-shaped and weighs 466 grams. Measures approximately 8cm by 6cm by 6cm. Surprisingly, the rock is of a completely unidentified type, which suggests it might actually be a meteorite.

However, the object aroused the interest of geologists and collectors around the world not only because of its unknown composition, but also because of the enormous relic it contained: a threaded metal bar.

Furthermore, rather than changing as a result of the development of organisms, the thread width of the screw is constant from coarse end to fine end.

As reported in the ‘Lanzhou Morning News’ on June 26, 2002:
“More than 10 global geologists and physicists from the National Land Resources Bureau of Gansu Province, Colored Metal Survey Bureau of Gansu Province, Institute of Geology and Mineral Research of China Academy, Lanzhou Branch and School of Resources and Environment of Lanzhou College gathered to study the origin of this mysterious stone.

After a discussion on the possibility of being man-made and the possible reasons for its formation, the scientists unanimously labeled the stone as one of the most valuable objects in China and the world for collection, research and archaeological studies.”

Experts have come up with several surprising theories about how this stone was formed during the discussion. Since it is believed that a society similar to ours existed on Earth before the one we currently live in, one of the theories suggests that this stone may be a remnant of an earlier civilization.

The Silurian hypothesis of the existence of prehistoric civilizations:
The Silurian hypothesis examines whether modern science can find signs of a sophisticated civilization that existed perhaps a few million or a few hundred million years ago. Adam Frank, an astrophysicist at the University of Rochester, and Gavin Schmidt, director of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies, proposed an advanced civilization before the appearance of humans and pondered “is it possible to detect an industrial civilization in the geological record?” in an article titled Silurian Conjecture, published in the Cambridge University Journal of Astrobiology. A Doctor Who episode from the 1970s that featured an advanced race of reptiles formed the basis for the phrase “Silurian hypothesis”.

Another hypothesis is that it could be a rocky meteorite that carried information from an extraterrestrial civilization due to the threaded metal bar and the dark lithic substance. Both the exposed bar tip and the bar entry into the stone do not appear to be man-made.

All scientists agreed with the conference’s conclusion that further studies are needed to answer questions such as how the stone was created and whether the “metal bar” is really made of metal.

What do skeptics say about the Lanzhou Stone?
The unknown composition and structural creation of the Lanzhou Stone has many scholars perplexed, although many have doubts about this strange-looking item. They claim the stone resembles a hardened ball of tar with a screw in it more than anything else. The time of the world wars may have been the origin of its formation. Therefore, there is no need to perform a real scientific analysis on this “rock”.

The current whereabouts of the Lanzhou Stone
The whereabouts of the stone are unknown and the results of the analysis have not been made public. However, there are a number of intriguing assumptions to be made. Firstly, it is obvious that the metal bar was formed and required a certain level of technology to produce. The mysterious black substance could have been anything, but the probability that it was manufactured is quite high.

Nowadays, anyone can speculate about what this stone and the threaded thing are. However, if it is a meteorite, then it has given us irrefutable evidence that we are not alone. Whereas, if the doubters’ premise is correct, we would be wasting our time on a peculiar historical artifact.
