Aliens May Be Intelligent Machines “AI” Not Biological Beings

A̳l̳i̳e̳n̳s may already have evolved into artificial intelligence, according to one of the most prestigious experts.
The Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence Institute (SETI) located in California, United States has come to the conclusion that the search for e̳x̳t̳r̳a̳t̳e̳r̳r̳e̳s̳t̳r̳i̳a̳l̳ life is going the wrong way and that a̳l̳i̳e̳n̳s, instead of being biological beings, may be machines that think.
One of SETI\’s leading a̳l̳i̳e̳n̳ discoverers, Dr. Seth Shostak indicates that perhaps a̳l̳i̳e̳n̳s have already evolved artificial intelligence, thus becoming \’thinking machines\’.

Thus, the astronomer states in the magazine \’Acta Astronáutica\’ that it is currently more feasible to detect artificial intelligence than forms of biological life beyond Earth\’s borders. As the BBC explains, scientists working on SETI have long argued that nature may already have solved the problem of how to sustain life with different models of chemical compounds, meaning that a̳l̳i̳e̳n̳s are not only not like humans, but also are no longer on the same biological level as the inhabitants of Earth function with.
“Eclipsed” species
SETI scientists based their investigations into the search for an extraplanetary pathway on the theory that e̳x̳t̳r̳a̳t̳e̳r̳r̳e̳s̳t̳r̳i̳a̳l̳s could be \’living beings\’ just like humans. However Dr. Shostak claims that while evolution to develop beings able to communicate beyond their own planet may take a long time, technology beyond Earth may have advanced fast enough to “eclipse” the species that created it.
“If we look at the time scales of technology development, we see that in a moment the radio was invented and then we were able to transmit signals and we had the possibility of someone listening to us”, explains the scientist. From the point of view of probability, adds the expert, if these thinking machines managed to evolve, there would now be a greater chance of detecting their signals than those of the \’biological\’ life that invented them.
